It is human nature to dismiss, in a millisecond, those things we recognize as ordinary and usual. Everyday encounters with the known renders "ordinary" invisible because of our own highly efficient visual filtering systems. These filters, designed to eliminate the extemporaneous, also blind us to beauty and the extraordinary in the process. My work seeks to focus an appreciative eye on the frequently overlooked; to transform "fence" or "rooftop" into a composition of light and shadow, repetition, balance, and form.
