Spectacles for Tourists

The intent of travel ephemera such as maps and postcards is for the traveler to remember not what they have experienced but rather what they wished or expected to see and encounter before ever leaving their home.

These small works incorporate found objects and vintage images taken from travel ephemera, maps and post cards. The Spectacles series incorporates eyeglass frames around past visions of near and far locales. They represent not the true visions and memories of the traveler but the manipulated images of our vision of what travel should be.
