These paintings represent a new direction, as I have painted realistically for most of my career and these are totally abstract. They are, nonetheless, a natural outgrowth of my work for they demonstrate the two key elements that I strive to bring into all my paintings: light and space. My goal is to create images of what I call “structured space” in which forms are illuminated in such a way that they appear mysterious and convey a sense of calm and order to the viewer.
