In these paintings I have been incorporating images of flowers with the virgin icon. They are a part of my continued investigation of paint, pattern, and psychological landscapes. They are inspired by the altar pieces in the John G. Johnson Collection at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I am moved by the unquestioned adoration that produced these devotional objects. I am also fascinated by the power of the repeated mother image. My paintings depict worlds where I convey my own devotion to the creative process infused with the pleasure of seeing and my own ideas of motherhood.
