In today's world we are all told to seek significance. Such significance may be found within the material and immaterial. However, there is one feature of the human character that has held significance throughout the course of human history—teeth. Teeth have become the oral backbone for much lore, theory, identity and symbolism present in all societies. The mouth and teeth are the ambassadors for communication (verbally and non verbally), metaphor's for one's relationship to the maternal, symbols of victory, signs of value, justifiable obsessions and trademarks of identity. By depicting the teeth in the form of an Xray I want to deconstruct the accepted view of our mouth and teeth. From the waves of the Xray nothing may hide- all is exposed and revealed. The effects of the radiation not only leave an imprint of the unseen, but also the subcutaneous truth, the truth that in our quest for significance we neglect our own free importance.
