One of the great powers of miniature painting is its ability to pull the viewer into close proximity of the surface, establishing an intimate relationship between the viewer and the image. Due to the precious and intimate nature of miniature painting, I find it to be quite a fitting vehicle to explore the repelling quality of abject imagery. My goal is to simultaneously repulse and attract the viewer. I believe that the curious feeling caused will entice the viewer into taking a closer look, and compel them into establishing a level of intimacy regardless of the abjection.
