The New Miss is a text based sound project that began in 2004. In this ongoing work I use drawing and random organizational techniques to create an alternative arrangement from preexisting texts. The new text is then transferred to a fresh document so that performers can verbalize their rendering during live readings. As a result, the text undergoes further interpretation during the vocalization of unfamiliar arrangements and configurations. The reader’s for chapters 1 & 2 of The New Miss are Sarah Russell and Nicole Smith, recorded in Tybee Island and Atlanta, Georgia.
