Call For Artwork

Call for Proposals: Water Exhibit

The Dalton Gallery of Agnes Scott College seeks to review the work of artists who are in dialogue with current environmental concerns, with a focus on water. Ideas could reference sustainability, drought and flood and global climate change. Also of interest are new ways of looking at water and: culture, history, food, religion, gender, race, economics, technology, architecture, health, and more.  The gallery will present an exhibition running the gamut of these issues late January through early March 2009.

  • All media will be considered, including visual arts, music, performance and writing (fiction/non-fiction). Outdoor, site-specific work is encouraged.
  • Submission packets must include a proposal, artist statement, c.v. and a budget if necessary. Visual artists must include images (CD only) and a detailed image list. Artists working in other media should showcase their work as they see fit.
  • Snail mail proposals to: The Dalton Gallery, Agnes Scott College, 141 E. College Ave, Decatur, GA 30030.
  • Review is ongoing. EARLY DELIVERY IS ENCOURAGED. Proposal packets will be accepted through April 8.
  • Notice of proposal status is April 30, 2008.
  • Proposals will not be returned; they will be retained for educational material.

Artist should demonstrate a history of working with the issues presented. Artwork should have been created since 2006. Work previously exhibited in metropolitan Atlanta cannot be included in the exhibit. For a map of the campus and the mission of the college go to www.agnesscott.edu. A floor plan of the gallery can be found here.  The exhibit is organized by Lisa Alembik, director of the gallery and curator of the 2004 environmental art exhibit “Tender Landscape.”
